The UCLA men's golf team swept the major awards in the Pac-10 Conference as freshman Patrick Cantlay won Pac-10 Freshman and Player of the Year and Head Coach Derek Freeman took home Coach of the Year honors.

Freeman becomes just the fourth UCLA coach to win Pac-10 Coach of the Year honors (the other three being Ed Merrins (1982 and 1983), Brad Sherfy (1998) and O.D. Vincent (2003, 2006)). Derek led UCLA to three tournament victories in 11 tournaments this season and finished in the top four in nine of those 11 events. Freeman also led the Bruins to a third place finish at the Pac-10 Championship, their highest ever in his tenure as head coach.

Cantlay becomes the 7th UCLA golfer all-time to win Pac-10 Player of the Year, and just the second player in league history to win both Freshman and Player of the Year in the same season. This year, Patrick set a UCLA freshman single season record by winning three tournaments. He also leads the Bruins in every major statistical category, including scoring average (70.7), top-10 finishes (7), rounds under par (15) and rounds under 70 (13). In addition, Cantlay is 13-under par on the year in 10 starts and 31 rounds. Earlier this season, he secured the consensus No. 1 ranking, becoming the first UCLA freshman golfer to do so and was named Pac-10 Golfer of the Month for February. Finally, he also earned Golfweek and GolfDigest/GolfWorld Player of the Week honors for March 7 and is one of three finalists for the Hogan Award, given to the nation's top collegiate golfer.

Joining Cantlay on the All-Pac-10 first team are junior Gregor Main and sophomore Pontus Widegren. This is the second straight selection for Widegren after he was named to the second team last year. Meanwhile, this is Gregor's third straight all-conference selection after he was named to the second team two years running. Main also took home the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year award back in 2009. Junior Alex Shi Yup Kim also picked up honorable mention honors from the conference. Kim was a first team All-Pac-10 selection in 2010.

Main recorded six top-10 finishes on the year, including a victory at the Del Walker Intercollegiate back in March. He was also second to Cantlay with 12 rounds under par. Widegren picked up his first collegiate victory back in September at the Fall Preview. He finished the year with 9 top-20 finishes and 10 rounds under par. Kim finished the year with 5 top-10 results and a third place finish at the Pac-10 Championship last week.

The Bruins will begin NCAA postseason play on Thursday, May 19th at the West Regional played at Farms Golf Course in Rancho Santa Fe, CA. UCLA has earned the top seed at the regional and will look to advance to the NCAA Championship for the 9th consecutive year.
