Bakersfield, Calif. - Playing its only tune-up before kicking off the 2011 regular season next week at Cal State Northridge, the UCLA women's soccer team posted a 4-1 road victory over CSU Bakersfield on Saturday evening at the Main Soccer Field.

The Bruins, who trailed early in Saturday's contest after CSU Bakersfield's Sam Pena struck in the eighth minute, found their form late in the second half, scoring three goals in the span of three minutes. Senior Sydney Leroux got things started for UCLA in the 36th minute, scoring on a strike from 12 yards out. She added her second goal less than a minute later to give the team a 2-1 advantage. A pair of Bruin freshmen completed the team's first-half scoring run when Kylie McCarthy struck from inside in the box on an assist from Sam Mewis.

The only second half goal was scored by freshman Courtney Proctor in the 62nd minute. McCarthy and Mewis assisted on that goal.

UCLA out-shot CSU Bakersfield, 16-5 on the evening. The Bruins also owned a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal.

UCLA opens up the season next Friday at Cal State Northridge. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
