Results

First-day UCLA women indoor track & field results from the 2006 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championships, held at the Dempsey Indoor Facility in Seattle, WA.

The Bruin women were led by senior Chelsea Johnson, who won the pole vault with an indoor collegiate leading 14-5.25.

Jeanette Bolden's Bruin women are ranked No. 14 in the U. S. and in 2005 placed fourth at the MPSF Indoor Championships. After the first day's MPSF scoring, the Bruins are in seventh-place, with 17.50 points.

On Friday, the women's competition featured five final events, along with the pentathlon, and six preliminary events.

Finals
5000m - senior Sarah West placed 15th (17:54.42).
Distance Medley Relay - The Bruins picked up one team point, placing eighth
(11:53.29). Running for the Bruins were senior Leslie Barrie, sophomore Shantae McKinney, sophomore Alice Bohannon and junior Allison Hall. Long Jump - sophomore Renee Williams placed third (six team points), with a leap of 19-7.50. Sophomore Georgea Richards tied for 13th (16-8.75).
Pole Vault - Two-time senior All-American Chelsea Johnson, the NCAA Outdoor record holder (15-0) and 2004 NCAA Outdoor Champion, won the event (10 points), with a season indoor best mark of 14-5.25. Her effort was a meet record (breaking the old mark of 14-4.75, Arizona's Amy Linnen, 2003) and it's the top collegiate women's indoor vault during this 2006 season. Johnson is the school record-holder in the indoor woman's vault, with a mark of 14-8. Sophomore Ingrid Kantola also scored for the Bruins, tying for eighth (0.5 points), with an overall best of 12-7.25, tied for No. 8 on the Bruin all-time chart. Placing 15th was sophomore Elizabeth Woepse (12-1.25, indoor best).
Weight Throw- no entries
Pentathlon - sophomore Georgea Richards finished 12th (3,540, indoor best) in the five- event competition and sophomore Allison Miller placed 17th (3381). Richards' marks included - 60m hurdles (8.87/937), high jump (5-0.50/666), shot put (33- 9.50/549), long jump (17-8.25/5.39) and 800m (2:27.84/720). Miller's marks included - 60m hurdles (9.20/869), high jump (5-3/736), shot put (31-3.25/499), long jump (16-5.75/565) and 800m (2:28.46/712).

60m - no entries
200 - no entries
400m - freshman Chanelle Curry (57.08, dnq).
800m - UCLA had three runners all run indoor bests, but no one advanced to Saturday's final - sophomore Alice Bohannon (2:12.89), freshman Gabrielle Bournes (2:15.73) and sophomore Shantae McKinney (2:13.14).
Mile - the Bruins had two runners advance to Saturday's final, both running indoor bests - junior Allison Hall (4:53.35) and senior Leslie Barrie (4:54.17).
60m Hurdles - sophomore Georgea Richards qualified for Saturday's final with an indoor best 8.69.
