Nov. 17, 2005

The No. 7 UCLA swim and dive team has announced the signing of two standout swimmers to National Letters-of-Intent on Wednesday. Hope Thurman of Orinda, CA and Heather White of Oakland, CA will join the Bruins in 2006-07.

Both Thurman and White swim for Orinda Aquatics and go to Miramontes High School. Thurman is a top swimmer in the freestyle and butterfly events, while White is a 200 IM/200 Back specialist.

Head Coach Cyndi Gallagher was out of town and unavailable for comment, but Assistant Coach Erika Hansen and the Bruins are excited to welcome Hope and Heather to the UCLA family.

"Heather and Hope will make an immediate impact on the UCLA team," said Hansen. "They are incredibly talented and versatile athletes and we couldn't be happier to have them sign with us."

The Bruins are still recruiting for next year's team and will have several more signees in the Spring NLI period.
