WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Eight members of the UCLA women's rowing team have earned Pac-10 All-Academic honors, the conference announced this week. Senior Megan Petitti and sophomores Lynn Hancock, Christina King and Christina Sprouse were named first-team Pac-10 All-Academic selections.
Petitti, a senior coxswain from Apple Valley, Calif., has compiled a 3.77 cumulative grade-point average as a mechanical engineering major. Hancock, a major contributor to UCLA's varsity eight crew all season, has logged a 3.71 grade-point average as a political science major.
King and Sprouse both competed on UCLA's varsity four crew throughout the season. King has posted a 3.83 grade-point average majoring in communication studies. Sprouse, a sophomore majoring in physics, has totaled a 3.88 grade-point average.
Senior Erin Haggerty, junior Megan Lightfoot and sophomores Danielle Piccinini and Destinie Slavich have been named second-team Pac-10 All-Academic selections. Haggerty has compiled a 3.17 cumulative grade-point average as a physiological sciences major after having competed on UCLA's varsity eight crew in each of her four seasons.
Lightfoot, a junior majoring in political science, has tallied a 3.45 grade-point average. Piccinini, a sophomore from Oakland, Calif., has registered a 3.47 grade-point average. Slavaich, a sophomore from San Francisco, has posted a 3.41 grade-point average.
