Dec. 9, 2011

Los Angeles, Calif. - Senior goalkeeper Brian Rowe and junior forward Chandler Hoffman were named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire Men's NCAA Division I All-America Team today. Rowe was named to the second-team while Hoffman earned third-team acclaim.

Hoffman, a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist, leads the Pac-12 in both goals (18) and points (40) and was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection this season. His 18 goals are the most by a Bruin player since Joe-Max Moore had 18 back in 1991 and his 40 points are the most by a UCLA player since Seth George had 42 in 1997. He is also tied for fourth nationally in goals and is sixth in points scored. Hoffman tied UCLA records this season for consecutive games with a goal and multiple goal games, scoring in five straight games and tallying four multiple goal games.

Brian Rowe has had an outstanding year for the Bruins, posting a single-season best 12 shutouts. Rowe also has a 0.70 GAA on the season and recorded a Pac-12 best 0.20 GAA in conference play, which helped him earn first-team All-Pac-12 honors. His 12 shutouts are the most by a Bruin goalie since Eric Reed had 12 back in 2005.

Brian Rowe and Hoffman were also both honored as first-team selections on the NSCAA All-Far West Team. Andy Rose, Kelyn Rowe and Matt Wiet were also named to the All-Far West Team. Rose and Kelyn Rowe were named to the second-team while Wiet was a third-team selection.

Like Brian Rowe and Hoffman, Rose was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection after starting all 23 games for the Bruins this season. The team captain has recorded two goals and three assists on the season and has been the anchor in the midfield all year.

This is the second consecutive year that Kelyn Rowe and Matt Wiet have earned All-Far West Region honors after Rowe was named to the first team last year and Wiet was named to the third-team in 2010.

Kelyn Rowe was named the 2011 Pac-12 Player of the Year and leads the Pac-12 with 10 assists on the season. His 10 assists also put him in a tie for seventh nationally. Wiet has started all 23 games for UCLA this season and has played a key role in defense for the Bruins all year. Along with Brian Rowe and the rest of the back line, Wiet has been instrumental in shutting out the last eight UCLA opponents, which ties a school record that dates back to 1977.

UCLA now has 44 NSCAA All-America selections and 150 All-Far West selections in program history.
