Cal State Northridge defeated UCLA in four games and UC Santa Barbara swept Long Beach State Saturday afternoon as the annual SAC Tournament at UCLA concluded.
The Matadors ended the Bruins' bid to go unbeaten in the tournament with a 30-27, 30-24, 25-30, 31-29 victory in Saturday's finale. Earlier, UC Santa Barbara beat Long Beach State, 30-27, 31-29, 30-26.
Eric Vance pounded a game-high 23 kills for the Matadors, followed by 12 from Cody Loe.
In the morning matches, UCLA defeated UC Santa Barbara in five and Long Beach State swept CS Northridge.
The Bruins won 30-21, 20-30, 24-30, 30-24, 15-7 behind 19 kills (.320) from Sean O'Malley and 12 from Garrett Muagututia. Shaun Nichols added 10 kills (.670) and O'Malley and James Scilacci tied for the team lead with three blocks apiece. Tony Ker led the Bruins with 14 digs.
Paul Lotman led the 49ers with 15 kills in their victory over the Matadors, and Dan Alexander added nine.
Isaac Kneubuhl led CSUN with 14 kills and Mike Gaudino added 13.
UCLA concludes its preseason schedule with a match against the Alumni on Tues., Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion.
