LOS ANGELES - The No. 3 UCLA baseball team fell to Cal State Fullerton, 13-2, Wednesday evening at Jackie Robinson Stadium. First baseman Casey Haerther finished 2-for-4 at the plate with one triple and one single, as the Bruins dropped their second game to the Titans in as many days.

Cal State Fullerton right-hander Daniel Renkin (2-0) limited the host Bruins (5-3) to one run and three hits in 7.0 innings, recording 10 strikeouts and issuing just one walk. UCLA right-handed pitcher Charles Brewer (1-1) was tagged with the loss, allowing eight runs (six earned) and eight hits in 4.1 innings.

The Titans (5-4) were led at the plate by left fielder Jeff Newman, who posted a 2-for-2 effort with one run and four RBI. Cal State Fullerton received a three-run, pinch-hit home run from Khris Davis, who finished the evening 1-for-4 with three RBI. First baseman Jared Clark scored three runs, hitting 2-for-3 with one RBI.

UCLA managed just four hits, two from Haerther, in the team's third loss of the young season.

Cal State Fullerton assumed a 5-0 lead in the second inning. Clark put the Titans on the board with a one-out solo home run. With two outs, the Titans added four runs off four hits - two double and two singles - and one error.

The Titans added a sixth run in the fourth inning and scored five times in the top of the fifth inning. Davis handed Cal State Fullerton a 9-0 lead with his three-run homer to right field. The Titans scored twice more that inning - a balk scored third baseman Joel Weeks from third, and a sacrifice fly brought home catcher Billy Marcoe.

The Bruins got on the board after Haerther's triple to left-center field in the bottom of the fifth. Uribe followed with an RBI-double to right, plating Haerther.

Cal State Fullerton scored twice in the top of the sixth, assuming a 13-1 lead. UCLA scored its second run in the bottom of the eighth when catcher Brent Dean advanced home from third base on a wild pitch. Dean had reached base after getting hit by a pitch for a team-leading fourth time this season.

UCLA right-hander Matt Grace pitched two innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three hitters.

The Bruins return to action against St. Mary's on Friday, March 7, when the two teams open a three-game series at UCLA's Jackie Robinson Stadium. Friday's game time is 6 p.m. The Bruins and Gaels will play Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
