Senior running back Johnathan Franklin (Los Angeles, CA/Dorsey HS) of the UCLA football team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 30-Nov. 4.
Franklin ran 24 times for 162 yards and two touchdowns and caught three passes for 28 yards as UCLA racked up 611 yards of total offense in a 66-10 blowout victory over Arizona. On his third carry of the night, Franklin raced 37 yards into the end zone to not only give UCLA the first of nine touchdowns, but place himself in the record book as UCLA's all-time leading rusher. With that run, he passed former record-holder Gaston Green, who accumulated 3,731 yards during his Bruin career (1984-87). Franklin, who now has 3,873 yards and counting, has moved into third on the school all-purpose yardage list with 4,303 yards. He also moved into a tie for second on the school list with his 17th career 100-yard game. Franklin's current season total of 1,204 yards ranks eighth on that school list, and he now ranks fourth in the nation in rushing (133.78/g) this week.
This is Franklin's third UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and fifth of his career.
