Feb. 21, 2004

Box Score

Tiger starter Alex Graham threw a complete game shutout to help Pacific (5-3) to a 7-0 victory over UCLA (4-3) at Jackie Robinson Stadium in the first game of the scheduled doubleheader. In the second game, play was stopped due to rain, with UCLA trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Graham (2-0) held the Bruins to only two hits. Billy Susdorf and Wes Whisler had back-to-back singles in the bottom of the seventh frame to account for the UCLA offense.

The Tigers were led by Octavio Amezquita, who went 4-for-5 in the game with two runs scored. Jordan Seiber drove in three Tiger runs.

Bruin starter Hector Ambriz (1-1) suffered his first loss of the season. The sophomore right-hander struck out five Tigers in five innings, while allowing six runs.

In the second game, Pacific took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a two-run homer from Jesse Kovacs.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Bruins were threatening to get on the scoreboard when Mike Svetlic led off the inning with a single and Susdorf followed with another single. The runners both advanced on a wild pitch and after an out, the game was halted due to rain.

The teams will face-off to complete the series tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
