UCLA's Greco, Blue Named To All-Pac-10 First Team

March 6, 2003

Walnut Creek, CA - UCLA guards Michelle Greco and Nikki Blue have been selected to the All-Pac-10 first team in a vote by the 10 Conference coaches. The honor is Greco's second and Blue's first.

Greco, a senior from LaCrescenta, is the league's top scorer and thief, averaging 19.2 points per game and 2.78 steals per game. A Jan. 13 Player of the Week honoree, she also ranks fourth in the Conference in free throw percentage (.807). This season, Greco has moved up to 15th in the Conference record books for career points (1678) and third in steals (282). Earlier in the season, Greco set a school record by making 32 consecutive free throws, one away from the all-time Pac-10 best. Greco had previously been named to the All-Conference first-team in 2001 and to the honorable mention team in 2000. She was also a first-team All-Freshman selection in 1999.

Blue, a freshman from Bakersfield, CA, is averaging 16.3 points per game to rank sixth in the Pac-10. She also is tied for seventh in assists (3.4 apg), fourth in steals (2.33 spg), 10th in assist/turnover ratio (1.03) and 18th in rebounding (5.6 rpg). Blue set the school freshman single-game scoring record by dropping 35 points at Washington. She has a league-best two 30-point games this year. Blue also became the 10th Bruin ever to be selected to the first-team All-Freshman team.

UCLA has now had at least one first-team all-conference performer in 16 of the Pac-10's 17 years. The two first-team selections this year mark the first time UCLA has had two players honored since the 1999 season.
