The victory improves the Bruins to 18-14 and 3-3 in the Pac-10, while the Cougars drop to 22-12 and 4-5 in the Pac-10.

Freshman Ryan Babineau went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored, freshman Brandon Crawford finished going 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored, and junior Hector Ambriz went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI. Eric Taylor, Jr. also had two hits with a run scored and a RBI, senior Chris Jensen went 2-for-4 with a run scored, and senior Josh Roenicke finished with four RBI on the day.

Washington State jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Jim Murphy led off the inning with a bloop single to center field. Zach Franklin then came to the plate and laid down a bunt to UCLA starter junior Tyson Brummett who fielded it cleanly but threw it away down the right field line to allow Murphy to go to third and Franklin to advance to second.

Ryan Krauser followed with a two-run single up the middle to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead. Jeff Miller would add a two-out RBI single through the left side to pick up Krauser from second, and Paul Gran added a RBI base hit to right field to put WSU up 4-0.

UCLA responded in the fourth inning with three runs to cut the deficit to 4-3. Taylor started things off with a single to right field, followed by a single through the right side by Jensen to advance Taylor to third base. Ambriz then smoked a line drive shot that ate up WSU second baseman Travis Coulter to score Taylor from third. With one out, senior Brett McMillan hit a nubber to advance Jensen to third and Ambriz to second base. With two outs, Roenicke laced a clutch single up the middle to score Jensen and Ambriz and put the score at 4-3.

UCLA rallied to take an 8-4 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Ambriz singled to right center to start the inning, followed by a double to the right center by senior Sean Smith to put runners at second and third. Roenicke then grounded out to second base to score Ambriz from third and tie the game at 4-4.

The Bruins were not done, however, as senior Anthony Norman beat out a throw at first for an infield single to score Smith from third with two outs, putting UCLA up 5-4. Freshman Ryan Babineau singled to center field and freshman Brandon Crawford followed with a bunt single to the pitcher Steve Kost who threw the ball away allowing Norman and Babineau to score and Crawford to advance to third. Taylor's RBI single up the middle scored Crawford to give UCLA an 8-4 edge.

Washington State responded with two runs in the seventh inning on a two-run single to right field by Jeff Miller to cut the UCLA lead to 8-6.

Roenicke's sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to score Smith gave UCLA a 9-6 advantage, and Babineau put the Bruins up 10-6 with a solo bomb to lead off the eighth inning.

Ambriz worked 1.1 innings to earn the save, giving up a RBI single to Jim Murphy in the ninth inning while earning one strikeout.

UCLA will travel to Tucson, Ariz., for a three-game series with the Arizona Wildcats starting Thursday, April 13 at 7 p.m.
