Turquoise Thompson and Alec Faldermeyer have been named Pac-12 Athletes of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Thompson was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Week after running a lifetime-best in the 400m at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invite. Primarily a 400m hurdler, Thompson ran the No. 9 400m time in the nation on Saturday with a new PR time of 52.73. She was the top collegiate finisher in the event and second overall. Thompson also ran on the 4x400m relay that finished second (3:41.55) to the Bobby Kersee All-Stars team that featured several Olympians including Allyson Felix.

Faldermeyer was named Men's Field Athlete of the Week. The three-time sophomore All-American continued his 2012 unbeaten streak, recording his fourth consecutive meet win in the hammer throw. He only needed one throw to win the competition at the RJ/JJK Invite after posting a mark of 217-3 on his opening attempt. He continues to rank fourth in the nation and is the top hammer throw in the Pac-12 this season.

Both Thompson (400m hurdles) and Faldermeyer (hammer) will be in action on Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays.
