UCLA alumna Anna Li will compete this weekend at the 2012 Visa Championships, which are taking place at St. Louis University's Chaifetz Arena from June 7-10.
The first day of the women's competition begins on Friday, June 8 at 4:30 pm PT. Day two for the women is on Sunday, June 10 at 12:30 pm PT. Li will be starting the competition on Friday on the balance beam and ending on uneven bars.
Performances at the Visa Championships, which serve as USA Gymnastics' national championships, will determine the gymnasts who advance to the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in San Jose, Calif. from June 28-July 1, where the U.S. Olympic Team for gymnastics will be named. Additionally, the Championships determine the U.S. champions and national team.
Universal Sports will televise day one for the women live beginning at 4:30 pm PT, with a simultaneous webcast on usagym.org. NBC Sports will carry the women's final day of competition live on June 10 from 1-3 pm PT.
Li, an eight-time All-American at UCLA from 2007-10, now trains at Legacy Elite Gymnastics under her coaches and parents Jiani Wu and Yuejiu Li. She was a member of the 2011 World Championship gold medal team and won a bronze medal at the 2011 Visa Championships on uneven bars. Most recently, Li placed eighth in the all-around at the 2012 Secret U.S. Classic. During her time at UCLA, she led the Bruins to the NCAA Championship her senior season and scored a pair of perfect 10s on uneven bars at the Pac-10 and NCAA Regional Championships. Li totaled six NCAA Regional individual titles and three Pac-10 individual titles in her career.
