Minneapolis, MN - At the 2004 Speedo American Cup, sophomore Paige Thompson and junior Janine Strack advanced to the semi-final of the three-meter springboard and 10-meter platform, respectively. Former Bruin All-American Regan Gosnell, who was one of 24 individuals invited to compete at the American Cup, was a finalist on platform.
On three-meter, Thompson advanced to the semi-final after qualifying for the event on Monday. She finished 17th overall with a score of 408.06. The top-12 individuals advanced to the final.
Strack, who qualified for platform on Tuesday, advanced to the semi-final in yesterday's action. She finished 17th overall, scoring 321.21. It was her second semi-final appearance at a major meet.
Gosnell, who had been invited to compete at the American Cup, advanced to the platform final. She entered the final in eight place, with a score of 388.77. In the final, she advanced to finish sixth overall, scoring 677.25. With her finish at the American Cup, Gosnell received one points towards qualifying for the Olympic Trial meet this June. She has a total of eight points towards Olympic Trial qualifying.
The 2004 U.S. Olympic Diving Trials will be held June 7-13 in St. Peter's, MO.
