Billy Martin Weekend Preview

No. 10 Bruins Head to Arizona
The No. 10 UCLA men's tennis team (13-5; 3-1 Pac-10) resumes Pac-10 Conference play this weekend, as the Bruins head to Tucson for a showdown against No. 35 Arizona (12-8; 1-3 Pac-10) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Bruins, who beat the Wildcats, 5-2 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center last year, take a 62-0 series record into that meeting.

UCLA Still in Pac-10 Title Contention
With a win over Arizona this Sunday, UCLA would head into next week's Pac-10 finale against USC with a 4-1 conference record. Even if USC also beats Arizona to move to 5-0 in the Pac-10, a Bruin victory over the Trojans next week would give the two teams identical 5-1 conference records and a share of this year's conference title.

Bruins Edge Waves at Home
After dropping the doubles point, the No. 10 UCLA men's tennis team rallied to pull off a 4-3 victory over No. 27 Pepperdine on Wednesday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. Despite the setback in doubles, UCLA came out strong in singles play, winning the first set on five of six courts. UCLA ultimately received singles wins from Kallim Stewart (court No. 5), Maxime Tabatruong (court No. 6), Nick Meister (court No. 2) and Amit Inbar (court No. 3) to pull out its second victory of the year over Pepperdine.

Bruins Perfect at No. 5
UCLA is a perfect 15-0 at the No. 5 singles position this year, making it the only spot in the lineup where UCLA has yet to lose a match. Amit Inbar and Maxime Tabatruong have won the most matches at that spot, as each player is 5-0. Nick Meister (2-0), Kallim Stewart (1-0), Matt Brooklyn (1-0) and Alex Brigham (1-0) are the other players to win at No. 5.

UCLA Remains in Top 10
Following its loss to No. 7 Stanford last weekend, UCLA dropped just one spot from No. 9 to No. 10 in this week's ITA Team Rankings released on Tuesday. Individual rankings, which are released every two weeks, are due out again next Tuesday along with new team rankings. Complete ITA Rankings can be found HERE.

Inbar, Meister Reach 20-Win Club
Juniors Amit Inbar and Nick Meister recently became the first two players to reach the 20-win mark this season. Inbar heads into the weekend with a 21-6 overall record, including a 13-2 mark in dual matches. Meister is 21-8 overall and 13-4 in duals. Senior Matt Brooklyn is the only other player who is close to 20 wins, as he enters the week 19-9 overall.
