Former UCLA All-American and 1995 U.S. Open champion Corey Pavin visited U.S. military personnel in Iraq last week as part of a USO and Armed Forces Entertainment sponsored tour of Iraq.
Pavin toured U.S. bases with PGA TOUR pros Donnie Hammond, Jerry Kelly and Frank Lickliter among others to help boost morale and provide golf tips to service men and women. The group flew home Monday night.
In 2006, Pavin won the U.S. Bank Championship and earned more than $1.3 million. For his 24-year career, he has earned more than $13 million and won 27 professional tournaments.
For more than 65 years, the USO has been providing morale, welfare and recreational services to U.S. military personnel and their families. Through the decades some of the legends of Hollywood have entertained U.S. troops overseas, including Bob Hope and Marilyn Monroe.
