Megan Langenfeld has been named one of 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, as announced on Monday. Online voting, which accounts for 1/3 of the total, began on Monday and runs through May 17 at www.seniorclassaward.com. Fans can also text SOFTBALL to 74567 to vote for the finalists.
Fan balloting will be combined with votes from coaches and media, accounting for the other 2/3 of the total, to determine the recipient of the award. The winner will be announced in June at the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 30 candidates who were announced in February.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.
