Jumpers Keneisha Creary and Ingrid Kantola punched their tickets to Fayetteville, AR for the NCAA Indoor Championships in March after producing NCAA automatic qualifiers in Flagstaff, AZ on Saturday. It was the second weekend in a row in which both produced lifetime-best marks.
Creary, competing in the high jump, won the event with a jump of 6-0.25. The mark improved on her previous best (5-11.25) and moved her to No. 6 all-time in Bruin history. It also ranks eighth in the NCAA this season.
Kantola finished second to former Bruin Chelsea Johnson, as both cleared 13-10. Kantola placed second based on misses. Her mark improved on her lifetime-best by 7.50 inches and moved her into the No. 4 spot in the country. It also now ranks third all-time at UCLA.
Other results from NAU - Lauren Correa, 3rd, HJ (5-3); Allie Miller, 6thT, HJ (5-3); Kathleen Mahony, 8th, HJ (5-3); Jacqueline Nguyen, 4th, PV (12-4.50); Elizabeth Woepse, 5th, PV (12-4.50); Megan Jamerson, 6th, PV (11-10.50); Renee Williams, 2nd, TJ (40-7.50)/2nd, LJ (19-8); Leslie Rychel, 6th, LJ (18-4.50).
The Bruins will head to Seattle, WA next weekend for the MPSF Indoor Championships. It will most likely be the last meet for the Bruins before the NCAA Indoor Championships, held March 9-10.
**Original results showed Renee Williams winning the triple jump with a mark of 43-10.75, but an error was made by the official at the meet so 13.38m was reported instead of 12.38m. The correct results are listed in the above recap, but have not been changed on the actual results.**
