Bruins Head to Northern California . . .
The No. 11-ranked UCLA women's tennis team (5-2) travels to the Bay Area this week to take on top-ranked Stanford (8-0) and No. 17 Cal (4-1). Action kicks off on Friday with the Bruins and Cardinal at 1:30 p.m., marking the first meeting between the two teams since last season's NCAA Final, a 4-1 Stanford victory. UCLA heads to Berkeley on Saturday to take on Cal beginning at Noon. The Bruins swept the Golden Bears last season, posting a pair of 4-3 victories. Both matches this weekend will not count in the Pac-10 standings.

Rain Washes Out Weekend Play . . .
UCLA had both of its matches against the Arizona schools cancelled due to rain over the weekend. Since the matches were not supposed to count in the Pac-10 standings, they will not be made up at a later date. The Bruins' match against Arizona last season in Los Angeles was also cancelled due to rain.

Last Time Out . . .
The Bruins defeated No. 22 Fresno State, 7-0 at the Los Angeles Tennis Center back on Feb. 12. Despite playing its third-straight match without No. 1 singles and doubles player Daniela Bercek (injury), the Bruins earned their second shutout of the season. Freshman Riza Zalameda stepped into the No. 1 singles position, posting a 6-2, 6-1 victory over 80th-ranked Lucia Tallo. She also teamed with Alex McGoodwin in doubles, winning their match at the No. 1 spot, 8-5.

New Rankings Released on Tuesday . . .
UCLA held the No. 11 spot in the ITA Team Rankings released on Feb. 22. The Bruins entered the season ranked No. 4, however fell to No. 11 after suffering two losses at the USTA/ITA National Team Indoors. Individual rankings were also released on Tuesday. Freshman Riza Zalameda is ranked No. 15 in singles and is followed by No. 38 Daniela Bercek and No. 98 Elizabeth Lumpkin. In doubles, Bercek and Zalameda check in at No. 3, while Laura Gordon and Lumpkin enter the rankings for the first time at No. 42.

Lumpkin, Gordon Undefeated in Dual-Match Play . . .
Freshman Elizabeth Lumpkin and junior Laura Gordon are the only two Bruins yet to lose in singles in dual-match play this season. Lumpkin owns a 6-0 record, seeing most of her time at the No. 6 position where she is 5-0. She has also played one match at the No. 5 spot. Gordon, who missed three contests due to injury, is 4-0 in dual matches, posting two wins each at the Nos. 5 and 6 positions. Freshman Riza Zalameda has just one loss, owning a 6-1 record in dual-match play.

Doubles Play . . .
The Bruins have claimed the doubles point in six of seven matches this season. The only team to win it against UCLA was Clemson at the USTA/ITA National Team Indoors. Miami is the only team to lose the doubles point against the Bruins and still win the match, as the Hurricanes won four of six singles matches to take a 4-3 win, also at the Indoors.

Head Coach Stella Sampras Webster . . .
Stella Sampras Webster is in her ninth season as head coach at UCLA, owning an overall record of 138-79 (.636). In her eight seasons in Westwood, the Bruins have finished in the top-10 at the NCAA Championships seven times, including a trip to the finals in 2004. As a player, Sampras Webster was a four-time All-American at UCLA from 1988-91, capturing the NCAA Doubles title (w/Allyson Cooper) as a freshman in 1988.
