PASADENA, Calif. - Johnathan Franklin rushed for 109 yards and one touchdown, and Richard Brehaut completed 20-of-35 passes for 230 yards as UCLA fell to USC, 28-14, before 71,105 at the Rose Bowl on Saturday night.

Franklin notched his fifth game this season with 100 or more yards on the ground and became the first Bruin to rush for at least 100 yards against USC since DeShaun Foster ran for 109 yards on Nov. 21, 1998.

USC's Allen Bradford ran for 212 yards and caught a 47-yard touchdown pass from Matt Barkley in the fourth quarter to help USC earn its fourth consecutive win over the Bruins.

"It's a difficult, bitter game for us," third-year head coach Rick Neuheisel said. "We certainly had chances, plenty of opportunities."

Each team scored a touchdown in the first quarter. USC running back Dillon Baxter completed a five-yard touchdown pass to Rhett Ellison with 4:39 remaining in the first quarter to put the Trojans ahaed, 7-0.

Franklin answered for the Bruins, breaking off a 59-yard touchdown run with 3:47 left in the opening quarter.

USC's Malcolm Smith returned a Franklin fumble 68 yards for a Trojans' touchdown with 2:31 to play before halftime. The Trojans entered the locker room at halftime with a 14-7 lead.

Leading 14-7 through three quarters, USC pulled away with a 47-yard completion from Barkley to Bradford with 11:17 left in the contest. The Trojans increased their margin to 28-7 with a 73-yard touchdown run by Bradford with 3:31 to go.

UCLA scored its second touchdown of the evening with 23 seconds left in the game - Brehaut completed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Joseph Fauria, the tight end's second touchdown reception in as many weeks.
