Final Stats

LOS ANGELES - UCLA won its second straight game and improved to 4-6 in Pac-10 play (31-7 overall) on Sunday afternoon at Easton Stadium with a 3-1 win over California (38-10, 5-7 Pac-10). Claire Sua posted two RBI singles in the game, scoring Andrea Duran in both instances, before Stephanie Ramos added a solo home run in the fourth inning to give the Bruins the 3-1 win.

UCLA opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as Andrea Duran hit a one-out double down the left field line and came home on a single by Claire Sua to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead.

The pattern repeated in the bottom of the third inning as Duran led off the inning with a single through the left side. Caitlin Benyi followed with a single to left field, and Duran came around to score on a single by Sua to give UCLA the 2-0 lead.

Stephanie Ramos upped the UCLA lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth with her 11th home run of the year.

California put together a rally in the seventh inning when Vicky Galindo and Lindsay James led off the inning with consecutive singles, and a catchers interference call loaded the bases by putting Kaleo Eldredge on first base. Haley Woods then delivered with a sacrifice fly for the first out of the inning, but was able to score Cal's first run of the game.

From that point, Keira Goerl was able to close out the inning, striking out Jessica Pamanian and getting Chelsea Spencer to ground out to end the game. Goerl struck out three in the game, and improved her season record to 18-5. That gives her 117 career victories, good for eighth place on the NCAA's all-time Division I list. She needs two more wins to move into a tie for seventh.

The Bruins return to action in Oregon next weekend with a Friday game in Eugene against the Oregon Ducks followed by a weekend set in Corvallis, OR, against Oregon State.
