The Bruin divers started off competition at the Hoosierland Invite in Bloomington, IN on a high note as four of the six divers competing placed in the top eight on one meter. Junior Marisa Samaniego led the way with her second-place finish on one meter with a score of 265.10. She posted a score of 299.10 in the semifinal and 283.45 in the prelim round.
Junior Brittany Hill was the next highest finisher for the Bruins with her fourth-place showing. Her score of 250.65 was a huge lifetime-best as her previous top score was 225.75. She also achieved personal best scores in the prelim (230.55) and semifinal (230.95) rounds.
Hill wasn't the only one having a career day as fellow juniors Shannon Pirozzi and Tess Schofield also posted personal bests scores on 1M. Pirozzi finished seventh overall with a top mark of 241.00. Her prelim (232.25) and semifinal (232.90) scores were also lifetime-bests. Schofield set her top mark in the semifinal round with a score of 257.70, but finished eighth overall with a score of 239.55. Her previous lifetime-best was 241.27.
The meet continues on Friday with the three meter competition.
