Two Bruins, linebacker Brandon Chillar and defensive tackle Ryan Boschetti, will play in the 78th Annual East West Shrine Game. The contest, scheduled for this Saturday, January 10 at 11:00 a.m., will be played at Pacific Bell Park in San Francisco, CA.
Both players will play for the West squad. Chillar will wear No. 8 while Boschetti will wear his familiar No. 75.
Chillar and Boschetti were both standouts on a Bruin defensive unit that ranked 18th nationally and second in the Pac-10 behind Oregon State in total defense (317.6 yards per game).
Chillar, a first-team All-Pac-10 performer in 2003, started his final 26 consecutive contests and in 35 of his final 37 Bruin games. He led the Bruins with 133 tackles and his average of 10.2 per game ranked No. 1 in the Pac-10. His 8.5 tackles for loss ranked second on the Bruin squad. Chillar's 133 tackles ranked No. 8 (tied) on the school's single-season list and were the most by a Bruin since 1989, when Craig Davis made 143 tackles and Eric Turner had 141 stops.
Boschetti emerged as the starter alongside Rodney Leisle and started all 13 games at defensive tackle. On the year, he finished with 43 tackles, including 2.5 sacks and 8.0 for tackles for loss, fourth on the squad in the latter category.
