Do won her quarterfinal match against teammate Stephanie Kono - proving that last year's victory over the consensus first-team All-American in the same tournament was no fluke - and then recharged to beat Annie Park of Levittown, PA, 2-up in the semifinals.
Do will be making her first appearance in tomorrow's 36-hole final.
Lua won her quaterfinal 7 & 6 against Brittany Altomare of Shrewsbury, MA, but lost 2 & 1 in the semifinals to Marissa Dodd of Allen, TX.
The match between Do and Kono see-sawed until the 14th hole when Do birdied to take a 1-up lead. The next three holes were halved and Do sealed the victory with a birdie at the 18th.
Against Park, Do never trailed although she did lose an early 2-up lead by the 10th hole. At the 16th, she had rebuilt that cushion with a birdie at the 14th and a bogey at the 16th. The 17th was halved and she had earned a trip to the finals.
In the quarterfinals, Lua built a 5-up lead at the turn. She sealed her victory with a winning par and bogey at the 11th and 12th holes, respectively.
Against Dodd, Lua lost an early 2-up lead, only to move ahead at the 5th with a par. The match was evened at the 7th when Dodd made a par. Dodd won the 8th and 9th holes and was 3-up after a winning par at the 12th. Lua cut the lead to 1-up by the 15th, but Dodd won the 16th with a par. The 17th was halved and Lua had run out of holes sending Dodd to the finals.
