First-year volunteer assistant coach Claine Plummer brings a wealth of experience into his first season in Westwood.
Plummer, who will work primarily with UCLA goalkeepers Valerie Henderson, Ashley Thompson and Lisa Jett, has served as an assistant coach for the men's and women's programs at nearby Occidental College the last four years. In addition, he has been the head coach at Pasadena's Marshall Fundamental High School since 2006, leading the Eagles to a runner-up finish in the CIF-Southern Section Division 5 Championships in 2007. For his efforts, he was named the CIF Southern Section Coach of the Year.
Plummer has also coached extensively at the club level, serving as Director of Goalkeeper for the La Canada Flyers Soccer Club from 1999-2003. In addition, he is the former head coach of the Santa Anita Flash Under-16 Premier team.
As a player, Plummer was the starting goalkeeper at Cal State Los Angeles from 1994-97. He still owns the second-lowest goals against average in school history (1.30). He earned first-team All-CCAA honors in 1994. On the professional level, Plummer has trained with the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS and was a member of Limonese F.C. in the Costa Rican First Division. As a youth player, he represented Costa Rica at the U-19 and U-23 levels.
