The 2001 season will mark the second year for assistant coach Jon Reeves. Reeves came to UCLA last season after serving a two-year term as co-director of tennis at the Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai, Calif. Prior to that, he was vice president of the ACE Tennis Academy in Atlanta, Ga., from 1997-99.
Despite injuries to key players in Reeves first season in Westwood, he was instrumental in helping the Bruins qualify for the NCAA Championships, finishing tied for ninth in the nation.
"We're very excited to have Jon on our coaching staff," said fifth-year head coach Stella Sampras. "He brings a wealth of experience as both a player and a coach, and he has already had a tremendous impact on this program."
Reeves, who has over six years of professional coaching experience, is also an accomplished player, having lettered four years at the University of South Carolina from 1989-93. Reeves received a B.A. in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Health and Fitness from South Carolina in 1993.
He has been a certified member of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) since 1997.
Reeves is a native of St. Louis, Mo.
