2001 (Summer) — Helped Anchorage Glacier Pilots of the All-Alaska League to the National Baseball Congress World Series title … Batted .309 with 4 homers and 30 RBI.

2001 — Earned All-Pac-10 honors … Developed into one of UCLA’s most consistent players, both at the plate and in the field … Started 54 games in right field, missing just two Bruin games all season … Hit nine-game hitting streak March 6-April 1, going 17-for-48 (.354) during the stretch … Also had two six-game hitting streaks … Was perfect in 15 base-stealing attempts and tied for team lead in thefts with Josh Canales … Committed just two errors in 144 chances (.986 fielding pct.), earning team’s Best Defensive Player award … Recorded four outfield assists, including three in May … Led club with 20 doubles and 48 runs … Finished strong in final month, collecting a hit in 17 of his final 20 games (April 18-May 20) … Tied for third on club with 22 multi-hit games, including three four-hit contests … Batted primarily in second spot (31 games), although he also saw action at cleanup (15) and leadoff (8).
