Scott was selected Pac-10 Player of the Week, Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week, and GTE Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of March 29-April 3 on the strength of a record-setting performance in UCLA's 16-15 loss at Washington on March 30. Originally scheduled for March 29, the game was suspended after an inning and a half due to hail. Scott was 0-1. With the sun peering through the clouds the next day, Scott hit four home runs, including two grand slams, knocked in 11 runs, and racked up 17 total bases against the Huskies. All three achievements set school and Pac-10 records. No one in 30 years of Pac-10 baseball and 80 years of Bruin baseball has accomplished what Scott did in that game. In addition, Scott was 5-6 (the other hit being a single) with five runs scored, which places him second on the all-time Pac-10 single-game runs list. At the time, Scott was one homer shy of the NCAA mark, three short of the RBI record, and one short of the grand slam record. For the week, Scott was 10-18 with five HR, 12 RBI, and 10 runs scored.
