Overview — This team leader will be looking to keep his starting position at shortstop … Is a solid, all-around player … “He had a fielding slump at one time last year, but he seems to have corrected anything that could even lead to a slump this year in the way of defense and he has improved his bat. Having him out there makes us a better team,” said Head Coach Gary Adams.

2000 (Summer) — Played shortstop for the Newark Raptors of the Northeastern League … Batted .301 with 12 stolen bases, five doubles and two triples … Helped team win its league and place third in the playoffs … Was selected as an all-star and was named All-Star Game MVP after going 2-2 … Had a game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Geneva Red Legs.

2000 (As A Junior) — Took over the starting shortstop position on March 12 vs. Bradley and started 43 of the last 45 games … Played in 53 games.

Notes: Led the Bruins with 10 sacrifice hits … Hit .364 (4-11) with three RBI during the Oklahoma City Regional … UCLA was 29-14 in the games that he started at shortstop … Batted leadoff in 18 games, and the Bruins were 15-3 in those games … Batted in the ninth spot in 25 games.
