After finishing her stellar three year career with the UCLA women's water polo team following the 2002 season, Kelly Heuchan begins her first season as an assistant coach. The former All-American from Perth Australia transferred to the Bruins from All Saints College in Australia and was a member of two national championship teams in 2000 and 2001.

Heuchan ended her three-year UCLA career with a total of 129 goals, good for fifth on UCLA's all time list. Her 57 goals in the 2000 season ranks seventh on UCLA's all time list of goals scored in a season.

In her 2002 senior season Heuchan was named team captain of a squad that finished with a 22-4 record and a No. 2 national ranking. She tied for the team lead with 37 goals. She was named a Second Team All-American and was selected to the All-MPSF Second Team and the MPSF All-Tournament First Team.

In 2001 Heuchan earned Third Team All-American honors and helped lead the Bruins to the inaugural NCAA Championship and second consecutive national championship. She was also named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, a tournament in which she scored four goals, including a goal in the NCAA championship game. She scored a goal in all but two games of the season and finished with a total of 34 goals, good for second best on the team.

In her first season as a Bruin, Heuchan started in all 35 games for a team that would win the national championship. She scored at least one goal in 26 games and led the Bruins with 57 goals on 105 attempts. For her efforts she was a second-team All-American selection and earned MPSF Honorable Mention Acclaim.

Heuchan was also a member of the 1999 Australian Junior National Team, which won the World Junior Championships in 1999.

She graduated from UCLA in 2002 with a degree in Economics.
