2005-06 -- In what has been a lengthy procedural processs, the UCLA Athletic Dept. and the Rubin family have been dealing with the NCAA, attempting to get Rubin a sixth year of eligibility (he did not compete in 2001-02/Rubin also missed the final 19 games of last season with a left knee injury that required surgery). But as of Nov. 1, Rubin's status for 2005-06 is still undecided. During a request for a five-year clock extension, while the extension is under consideration, Rubin may practice for 30 days (starting Oct. 14). He cannot play against outside competition.

Entering 2004-05 -- Janou (Ja-now) Rubin last season earned Pac-10 Player of the Week honors for his efforts in UCLA's conference opening home wins over Oregon State (career-high 13 points, all in the second half, including 3-3 from three-point range, one rebound and three assists in 18 minutes) and Oregon (a career-high tying 13 points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal and blocked shot in 24 minutes) ... Rubin is thought to be the first walk-on ever to win the honor ... Rubin's highlight games included - vs. Portland, he played seven minutes and contributed three rebounds and three assists; against Arizona in Pauley, Rubin scored a career-high nine points (3-3 on three-pointers) in a then-career-high 10 minutes; at Stanford, he hit a three-point field goal and grabbed a rebound in six minutes and at California, Rubin played a career-high 11 minutes, with three points and two rebounds.
