LOS ANGELES - The selection for the individual portion of the NCAA Men's and Women's Tennis Championships were made today and UCLA received four total singles berths and three in doubles.

On the men's side UCLA received one singles selection in sophomore Jean-Noel Grinda (Nice, France) who will be making his second appearance in the championships. Currently ranked No. 7 in the nation with an overall record of 20-14, Grinda reached the round of 16 at last year's NCAA Singles Championships while earning All-America honors. Two Bruin teams made the NCAA men's doubles field. Grinda will compete with junior Jong-Min Lee (Seoul, Korea) after achieving a national ranking No. 6 and compiling an overall record of 23-6 this season. Grinda was also a doubles All-American last year after reaching the NCAA quarterfinals with Matt Breen. Also competing in the doubles draw will be the tandem of senior Jason Cook (Woodland Hills, Calif.) and junior Brandon Kramer (Reno, Nevada). The duo of Cook and Kramer is currently ranked No. 7 in the nation with an overall record of 25-9 after finishing as runner-up to Grinda/Lee in the Pac-10 Championships. This is the first NCAA appearance for Cook, Kramer or Lee.

Representing the No. 7 ranked Bruin women's team in the NCAA Singles Championships will be the Bruins top-three players. In addition, the No. 1 tandem will compete in the doubles draw. Junior Annica Cooper (Chicago, Ill.) will be making her third NCAA Singles appearance after reaching the third round as a rookie and being upset in the first round last year. Cooper is currently ranked No. 16 with an overall record of 26-12. Junior Amanda Basica (Lomita, Calif.) is making her first NCAA singles appearance as a Bruin, however she did reach the third round of NCAA singles play as a rookie while at Florida. Basica is currently tied for No. 100 in nation with an overall record of 23-12. Sophomore Cristina Popescu (Montreal, Canada) is also making her second NCAA Singles appearance after reaching the second round last season. Popescu has been sidelined by injuries since March 3, but owns a national ranking of No. 15 and a record of 15-5. The doubles team of Basica/Cooper is currently listed No. 6 in the nation with a 23-8 overall record. Cooper competed in the NCAA Doubles draw as a rookie, losing in the first round. Basica reached the second round of doubles as a rookie at Florida.
