Head Football Coach Bob Toledo

UCLA Signs Highly-Rated Football Class

Bruins ink 26 recruits.

Feb. 4, 1998

LOS ANGELES -- Running back DeShaun Foster, linebacker Robert Thomas, offensive linemen Mike Saffer and Blake Worley, defensive back Lovell Houston and defensive linemen Ken Kocher and Sean Phillips highlight a list of 24 high school seniors and two junior college transfers who have signed letters-of-intent to attend UCLA.

The class consists of 16 high school seniors from California, two each from Texas and Colorado and one each from Arizona, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Washington.

"We are excited about this class of recruits," said head coach Bob Toledo. "It always takes a couple of years to see how these players will perform, but on paper, we feel we recruited quality players at every position. The offensive and defensive lines were priorities for us and we feel the young men in this class will help give us the needed quality depth we are looking for.
