UCLA -Fourth-year senior Tony White figures to be one of the leaders of the defensive unit this season...One of just three seniors listed as starters entering Fall camp, this will be his third season as a starter...Made a smooth transition from inside linebacker to the outside a year ago...A very dependable performer, he is always willing and able to do whatever is necessary to get the job done...A very strong player who has worked hard to improve his quickness, he is a leader in the weight room...Has the ability to play all three linebacker positions but enters Fall camp listed No. 1 on the strong side.

1999 - White played in the final nine games of the season, starting eight times, including once at middle linebacker...In his first game of the year (Fresno State), he made seven tackles and recovered a fumble to set up the go-ahead touchdown late in the third quarter...Made seven tackles against California, including 1.5 sacks and a third stop behind the line of scrimmage...Came off the bench at Oregon State to make eight tackles...Shifted to the middle when Robert Thomas was sidelined with a concussion and made a team-high and career-best 12 stops against Arizona...Suffered a sprained knee against Washington and did not make a tackle...Returned the following week against USC and made seven stops...On the year, he made 53 tackles, including six for loss, and ranked fourth on the team in both categories...Played at least 40 defensive snaps on six occasions, including 72 versus Arizona, 55 at USC and 50 versus Fresno State and Oregon State...Also played on special teams.
