UCLA - This talented youngster figures to contend for the starting free safety position...Possesses good size and speed and has good range...Should develop into a very solid player with added playing time...Houston is also an excellent kick returner.

1999 - As a redshirt freshman, Houston gained valuable experience during the latter half of the season...Started three of the final four games of the year, missing the finale against USC because of a concussion suffered in the previous game...Played 77 defensive snaps against Arizona and 69 at Oregon State...Played 40 defensive snaps against Washington before leaving with his concussion...On the year, he made 19 tackles, including nine against Oregon State and six against Washington...Had played just 11 defensive snaps prior to his start versus Oregon State...Made his varsity debut against Stanford, returning a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown on the first touch of his career...It was UCLA’s first touchdown on a kickoff return since 1980 (JoJo Townsell)...On the year, he averaged 24.2 yards on 18 kickoff returns and would have ranked sixth in the Pac-10 if he had qualified (he did not have enough returns)...Had five returns at Oregon State and four versus Oregon...Competed with the track team following 1999 Spring Practice and placed ninth in the 110 high hurdles at the Pac-10 championships (14.74).
