UCLA — Jason is one of the few seniors among the secondary performers and will be expected to provide leadership to this group … He is an aggressive tackler, pursues well to the football and has good size … He could play a key role on defense, if he can perform on a consistent basis … Should also contribute on special teams.

2000 — As a redshirt junior, Stephens appeared in eight games, including seven on defense … He saw most of his action in nickel and dime packages … He played at least 10 snaps in each of the first five games, including 21 against Arizona State, 19 versus Alabama and 17 against Fresno State … His late-game interception and 28-yard return clinched the victory against Michigan … He made five tackles on the year and broke up two passes … He was credited with two tackles versus Fresno State.

1999 — Appeared in all 11 games … Started the Boise State game at strong safety and made four tackles that evening … Made a season-high five stops in the Ohio State contest … On the year, he made 17 tackles … Played at least 49 defensive snaps in each of the first three games, including 64 versus Boise State and 63 at Ohio State … Also contributed on several of the special teams units, including kickoff, kickoff return and punt return.
