1999 - A transfer from West Virginia, Vermeulen is one of the top young distance runners in North America who will make an immediate impact on the Bruins' distance corps ... Vermeulen was UCLA's No. 1 runner on last fall's Bruin cross country team that qualified for the second consecutive season for an NCAA berth ... UCLA's lead runner at the Pac-10 (sixth), Western Regional (sixth) and NCAA cross country meets.

West Virginia - Vermeulen won the mile at the 1999 NCAA Indoor, in a time of 4:39.07 ... Also earned NCAA Indoor All-America honors on West Virginia's distance medley relay that placed fifth ... Big East Most Valuable Female Athlete at the '99 Big East Indoor meet for winning three events, including setting the conference mile record (4:39.84, fastest collegiate mile time in 1999) ... Also had the leading collegiate time in the 1000m, breaking the ECAC record by six seconds (2:43.01, third-fastest collegiate time in history) ...
