Theon Carrier, who is in his fourth season as assistant coach at UCLA, came to UCLA from Cypress College, where he served as women's assistant coach from 1998-2000. Carrier's main duties at UCLA include camps, wing player development and defense.

Carrier helped Cypress College reach the third round of the 2000 state playoffs, where they lost to the eventual state champions. Prior to coaching at Cypress, Carrier was an assistant coach for the girls' basketball team at Wilson High School in Long Beach, CA in 1997-98 and helped guide his team to the CIF Southern Section championship game.

A math and science teacher at Newcomb Academy for seven years, Carrier graduated from Long Beach State in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in Speech Communication. He was an all-city and All-Bay Area selection in basketball at Westmoor High in Daly City, CA.

Carrier and his wife Annette had their first child, Zora, in September of 2002.
