New Pauley Pavilion Officially Opens Its Doors

UCLA officially inaugurated New Pauley Pavilion Sunday night with the Pauley Campaign of Champions Celebration. The historic arena had been closed for nearly 18 months for a $136-million renovation. The celebration featured a reception throughout the concourse, followed by a program on Nell and John Wooden Court, including speeches from UCLA Chancellor Gene S. Block and Athletic Director Dan Guerrero, and the first-ever UCLA Parade of Athletes. (more)

UCLA Unveils Statue of Legendary Coach John R. Wooden

UCLA unveiled an 8-foot bronze statue of legendary head coach John R. Wooden outside New Pauley Pavilion on Friday afternoon, two weeks before the men's basketball team opens its season in the renovated arena. Wooden family members were on hand outside Pauley Pavilion for the unveiling of a bronze statue of Coach Wooden, whose vision, dedication, enthusiasm and insistence on personal excellence transcended the hardwood and made a mark on people at home and abroad. UCLA to Celebrate 40th Anniversary of Title IX Nov. 10

UCLA Athletics will honor the university's rich tradition of excellence in women's sports with a day-long celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Title IX on the UCLA campus on Saturday, November 10. The day culminates with the women's basketball season opener against San Diego State in New Pauley Pavilion at 7 pm. UCLA's Title IX 40, the top 40 female athletes in school history, will be honored at halftime, and alumnae student-athletes will be recognized throughout the game. (more)

UCLA to Unveil John R. Wooden Statue on October 26

UCLA will unveil a statue of legendary men's basketball coach John Wooden on the North Plaza outside New Pauley Pavilion on Friday, Oct. 26, at 2:30 p.m. (PDT). Several members of the Wooden family, as well as members of the Pauley family, will be on hand for the unveiling. The bronze statue was made possible by a generous donation from longtime UCLA Athletics benefactors Jim and Carol Collins. It was designed and sculpted by Blair Buswell of Pleasant Grove, Utah, who has created many pieces depicting famous sports figures. (more)

Welcome Back Pauley Week to Usher in New Era for UCLA

UCLA will host a range of festivities in late October and early November to celebrate the reopening of the world-famous Pauley Pavilion. "Welcome Back Pauley Week" will run from Oct. 28 to Nov. 4 and will feature a variety of events for UCLA fans, alumni, students, and faculty and staff, as well as the generous donors who helped fund the revitalization of the storied arena, which has been closed for renovations since March 2011.
