On the final day of the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, the Bruins did not have any individual competitors. In final team scoring, the UCLA men tied for 12th (18 points) and the Bruin women were 20th (13 points). Texas A & M and Florida tied for first-place for the men's crown (53 points) and Kansas captured the women's title (60 points).
In men's events during the four-day competition, UCLA was led by junior discus thrower Julian Wruck, who won his second career NCAA title, winning the discus with a mark of 213-1 and earning 10 team points for the Bruins. Also earning points for UCLA were junior Marcus Nilsson in the decathlon (third-place, personal-best 8,104 points, six team points) and junior Alex Faldermeyer in the hammer throw (seventh-place, 213-10/65.18m, two team points).
At the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Drake University in Des Moines, IA, the UCLA men placed 17th overall, scoring 17 points.
In women's competition, the Bruins were led by senior Turquoise Thompson in the 400m hurdles (third-place, personal-best 54.99, six team points), junior Ida Storm in the hammer throw (fifth-place, 214-5/65.35m, four team points) and sophomore Kylie Price in the long jump (sixth-place, 20-11.75/6.39m, +1.2w, three team points).
At last year's NCAA Outdoor, the Bruin women finished tied for 21st, with 14 points.

Wednesday, June 5
Women's Hammer Final - Junior Ida Storm placed fifth overall, earning her second career first-team All-America honor, with a mark of 214-5/65.35m. The school record holder in the event (223-3), Storm earned four team points for the Bruins.
Women's Long Jump Final - Sophomore Kylie Price placed sixth overall (20-11.75 (6.39m, +1.2w), earning three team points for UCLA. It was her third career first-team All-America honor in both outdoor and indoor long jump competition.
Women's 100m Semifinals - Competing in her second event of the day, Price's wind-aided time of 11.36 (+2.3w) in heat three was third and overall her mark was 13th overall. She did not qualify for Friday's final.
Women's 400m Hurdles Semifinals - Senior Turquoise Thompson's time of 56.60 (+2.7w) in heat three placed second and overall her mark was fourth as she advanced to Friday's final.
Decathlon - After the first day of competition (five events - 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m), junior Marcus Nilsson, who placed first in the shot put (48-11/14.91m/784 points) and tied for first in the high jump (6-5/1.96m/767 points) was in ninth-place (4,023 points). Nilsson's senior teammate, Dominic Giovannoni was in 12th-place (3,993 points) after five events.
Thursday, June 6
Decathlon - At the conclusion of the final five events (110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, 1500m), Nilsson had a strong day to place third-overall (8,104 points), a personal-best and No. 3 UCLA all-time. Earning six team points for the Bruins, it was Nilsson's second career first-team All-America honor and the highest Bruin finish at the NCAA Outdoor in the combined event since 1987 when Jim Connolly won the decathlon for the Bruins.
Giovannoni also had a personal-best effort of 7,726 points (No. 7 UCLA all-time), to place 13th overall and earn second-team All-America honors.
Men's Hammer Throw Final - Junior Alec Faldermeyer placed seventh, earning two team points for UCLA. His mark of 213-10/65.18m earned him his third consecutive first-team All-America honor in the event. In school history, Faldermeyer is the No. 2 UCLA all-time hammer thrower (229-3/69.89m).
Women's 100m Hurdles Semifinals - Sophomore Brea Buchanan, the top qualifier (13.054) at the 2013 NCAA West Preliminary Championships, failed to clear the final hurdle and fell just before the finish line, eliminating her from competition. Buchanan had previously posted a personal-best 12.77 to place second at the 2013 Pac-12 Championships, No. 2 UCLA all-time.
Women's Heptathlon - After the first four events (100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200m), junior Tatum Souza was in 10th place with 3,414 points.
Friday, June 7
Men's Discus Final - Redshirt junior Julian Wruck won his second career national championship in the discus event, with a throw of 213-1/64.94m to earn 10 team points for the Bruins. The 2011 NCAA Outdoor discus titlist while enrolled at Texas Tech, Wruck this season has set the collegiate record (223-7), Pac-12 record and school record in the discus. The last UCLA student-athlete to win the event was Bruin great John Godina in 1995, when he won both the discus and shot put (collegiate record, 72-2.25) at the NCAA Outdoor.
Women's 400m Hurdles Final - Competing in her last collegiate race and starting in lane seven, Thompson finished third, running a personal-best mark of 54.99, No. 5 UCLA all-time. Earning six team points for the Bruins, it is her third consecutive first-team All-America honor in the event as she finished second in both 2011 and 2012. The event winner, Stanford's Kori Carter, won with a collegiate record 53.21, breaking the old mark of 53.54 set by UCLA's Sheena Johnson at the 2004 NCAA Outdoor.
Heptathlon - Following competition in the long jump, javelin and 800m, Souza finished ninth overall with a personal-best mark of 5,691 points. She earned second-team All-America honors and her effort was No. 6 UCLA all-time.
