Austin, Texas - Heavy storms soaked the track and delayed action for three hours on day two of the NCAA Track and Field West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas. The rain, however, did not damper the spirits of Kylie Price and Turquoise Thompson, who advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 100m and 400m hurdles, respectively. Additionally, Brea Buchanan moved on to Saturday's quarterfinals in the 100m hurdles.

The competition concludes on Saturday, beginning with the rescheduled men's hammer at 10 am CT. UCLA will also look to qualify athletes in the relays, women's 100m hurdles, 5000m, men's javelin, men's pole vault, and the triple jump.

The NCAA Championships take place June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore. Qualifying for UCLA so far are Price in the long jump and 100m, Thompson in the 400m hurdles, Julian Wruck in the discus, Ida Storm in the hammer, Dominic Giovannoni and Marcus Nilsson in the decathlon. and Tatum Souza in the heptathlon.

Women's 100m
Kylie Price clocked in at 11.65 in her quarterfinal heat and placed second to qualify for her second event at the NCAA Championships.

"I PR'd in the prelims, running 11.32, and in the finals, I just wanted to make sure I went through every part of my race from the start to the end," Price said. "My start wasn't that good, but I had a really good ending, and I got second in my heat, which is an automatic qualifier, so I was happy about that. It wasn't a very good time, but it was good enough to make it, so that's all that matters."

Price also qualified in the long jump on Thursday. "I actually had the 100 prelims before the long jump, so my mind was everywhere," she said. "But I just knew I had to pop a good one in order to make it to the finals and then make it to NCAAs. I jumped 20-7.25, which is okay, but it got me to the finals."

Men's 800m
In heat number one of the quarterfinals, Alexander Monsivaiz was at the front of the pack at around 650m but got tangled up in a spill when another runner stumbled. Monsivaiz got back up and finished his heat in seventh place (1:55.65) and did not qualify.
