LOS ANGELES - The No. 7-ranked UCLA women's rowing team has secured its third selection in four seasons to compete at the NCAA Championships, as revealed during the NCAA's online selection show Tuesday afternoon.

UCLA will compete in the 22-team field at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis, Ind., from Friday, May 31 through Sunday, June 2. The Bruins earned their selection to the season-culminating NCAA Championships after having finished fourth at Pac-12 Championships last weekend.

In 12 seasons as UCLA's head coach, Amy Fuller Kearney has helped carry the Bruins to unprecedented heights. Last season, UCLA secured its highest-ever finish at NCAA Championships (eighth) and Pac-12 Championships (third). In 2010, the Bruins earned their first-ever berth as a team to NCAA Championships.

UCLA's varsity eight and varsity four crews each finished first in the Petite Final race at NCAA Championships in 2012. The Bruins' second varsity eight raced to a sixth-place finish in the Grand Final race.

Each of 22 teams selected to compete at NCAA Championships will race two varsity eight crews and one varsity four boat. Six of the Pac-12's seven women's rowing programs will compete at this year's event.

The top two boats in each heat will advance to semifinals. The remaining boats will compete at the repechage race on Friday afternoon, where the top two finishers will fill out the final semifinal spots. The top three boats in each semifinal heat will advance to the championship race.

UCLA previously sent its top varsity eight boat as an "at-large" selection to NCAA Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007. The Bruins finished 12th as a team at NCAA Championships in 2010 and eighth at the event in 2012.
