UCLA women's track and field head coach Jeanette Bolden has left her position to become the head coach of the University of Central Florida's track and field program.

In 20 years as the women's head coach, Bolden led UCLA to three NCAA team championships (2000 and 2001 NCAA Indoor and 2004 NCAA Outdoor); 10 Pac-10 titles, including eight consecutive from 1997-2004; and a 76-8 dual meet record. As UCLA's head coach Bolden instructed four Bruins to six NCAA Outdoor titles and coached over 50 All-Americans in the sprints, hurdles and relays.

Bolden was selected as the U.S. women's track and field head coach at the 2008 Olympic Games and led the American women to their third-highest medal count at the time (23 medals). Bolden was an Olympic medalist herself, having won a gold medal at the 1984 Games in the women's 4x100m relay.

In 2010, Bolden was inducted into the U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country (USTFCCA) Hall of Fame. She has received numerous coaching honors, including USTFCCA National Coach of the Year in 2004, USOC Track and Field Developmental Coach of the Year in 1998, USTCA West Region Women's Coach of the Year nine times and Pac-10 Women's Coach of the Year 10 times.

As a student-athlete at UCLA from 1981-83, Bolden was a five-time All-American and helped lead UCLA to its first NCAA Outdoor Championship in 1982.

"I have been at UCLA all my life, and I am grateful for the opportunities I had there," Bolden said. "I will always be indebted to them, and I thank the athletic department, especially (athletic director) Dan Guerrero, for all they have done for me."

"While we are disappointed to see her leave, all of us at UCLA wish Jeanette and her family a successful transition to her new position," said UCLA Director of Track & Field Mike Maynard. "She is a great coach and person and will always have our respect for her legacy and contributions as a Bruin."

A search for a new women's head coach is underway.
