Hundley, a redshirt sophomore from Chandler, Ariz., had a record-setting debut season in 2012, establishing new school marks for single-season completions (318-old mark Drew Olson, 2005 -242), single-season passing yardage (3,740 yds-old mark Cade McNown, 1998-3,470 yds) and single-season total offense (4,095 yds-old mark Cade McNown, 1998-3,652 yds). A starter in all 14 games, Hundley scored a touchdown on his first collegiate play, a 72-yard run in the season-opener at Rice. His 404 yards of total offense against Oregon State was the second-highest ever by a Bruin freshman (Tommy Maddox 445 v. USC, 1990) and the fifth-highest in school history. His 31 completions at Cal were the most-ever by a Bruin freshman and ranks third on the all-time school list. Hundley established a new school single-season completions record (finished season with 318) during the Bruins' 38-28 victory over USC ... Set a new school single-season total offense record (finished season with 4,095 yards) in the Pac-12 Championship Game at Stanford and also set a new school mark for passing yards in a season (finished with 3,740 yards) when he threw for 329 yards and three scores in the Holiday Bowl. Hundley's total of 29 scoring passes ranks second on the all-time school list (Drew Olson 34-2005). He had 355 yards of total rushing on the year, scoring nine touchdowns. Hundley was named honorable mention All-Pac-12 in a vote of league coaches. He also received the John Boncheff, Jr. Memorial Award for Rookie of the Year at the annual team award banquet.
Hundley is one of five Pac-12 quarterbacks on the watch list, joining Stanford's Kevin Hogan, Arizona State's Taylor Kelly, Oregon's Marcus Mariota and Washington's Keith Price. The Pac-12 ranked second to the SEC (7) in total selections.
