Bruins Earn Preseason Honors from Top Drawer Soccer
By: UCLA Athletics
Three UCLA women's soccer players have earned preseason Best XI honors from Top Drawer Soccer. Junior midfielder Sarah Killion received first-team acclaim, while junior defender Abby Dahlkemper and junior midfielder Sam Mewis were named to the second and third teams, respectively.

Killion ranked fifth on the team in scoring last season with 12 points off three goals, two of which were game-winners, and six assists. She played and started in 17 games and earned first-team All-Pacific Region, All-Pac-12, and honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic honors and was selected to the second-team Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Season.

Dahlkemper is coming off a sophomore season in which she was named second-team NSCAA All-American and selected to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. She also earned first-team All-Pac-12 and honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic honors. Dahlkemper helped lead the Bruin defense in posting Pac-12 best numbers for goals against average (0.55) and shutouts (14) and also contributed three goals and three assists while starting in all 23 games.

Mewis scored three goals and three assists in 16 games in 2012 and earned second-team All-Pac-12 acclaim for the second consecutive year. She was also an honorable mention Pac-12 All-Academic honoree. Along with Killion, Mewis played on the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team that won the FIFA U-20 World Cup last September. That duo, along with Dahlkemper, played with the U.S. U-23 team that won the Four National tournament in March.
