UCLA made 20 birdies in the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship and vaulted to the top of the leader board prior to Sunday’s final round at the Legends North Course in Franklin, TN.
UCLA swapped spots with Arizona State and will take a five-shot lead into the third round. The Bruins posted a team score of 284 (-4) on Saturday for a 36-hole total of 573 (-3) to snatch the lead from the Sun Devils who were second at 578 (+2) following a second round score of 293 (+5). North Carolina State was third at 583 (+9) followed by Vanderbilt and Duke in a tie for fifth at 585 (+9).
Individually for the Bruins, junior Erynne Lee fired a team best 68 (-4) for a two-round score of 141 (-3). She was tied for second place, twoshots off the lead. After a bogey at the first hole, Lee played the rest of her round in four-under par and capped it with consecutive birdies at the 17th and 18th holes.
Freshman Alison Lee was tied for fourth place after carding a round of 70 (-2). She birdied two of the first four holes only to finish the outward nine in even par 36. She was still even after 16 holes, but reeled off a pair of birdies at the 17th and 18th holes for an inward 34 (-2). She was tied for fourth at 142 (-2).
Freshman Bronte Law was four-over par after six holes, but made three straight birdies for an outward score of 37 (+1). She played the back nine in even par 36 for a score of 73 (+1). Law was tied for 12th at one-over par 145.
Senior Ani Gulugian posted the Bruins’ other counter – a one-over par 73 (+1) – and was tied for 41st at 154 (+10). She also birdied her final two holes.
Sophomore Louise Ridderstrom was tied for 38th place at 152 (+8) after carding a second round score of 79 (+7).
Virginia’s Elizabeth Brightwell was the 36-hole leader at 139 (-5) following a round of 69 (-3) on Saturday.
