The top-seeded Anderson posted two wins in the 32-player singles draw, beginnind the day with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Georgia's Maho Kowase in the round of 16. Her win in the quarterfinals didn't come as easily, as Anderson needed three sets to down Duke's Beatrice Capra, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1. Awaiting her in Saturday's semifinals is Texas A&M's Cristina Stancu. The two players will square off at 10:00 a.m.
Despite downing Auburn's Pleun Burgmans, 7-5, 6-4 in round of 16, sophomore Kyle McPhillips wasn't able to overcome second-seeded Lauren Herring of Georgia in the quarterfinals, suffering a 6-2, 6-4 loss.
Anderson and partner Jennifer Brady won their lone doubles match on Friday, downing Texas A&M's seventh-seeded Stefania Hristov and Stancu, 8-2. Anderson and Brady will meet North Carolina's Whitney Kay and Caroline Price in Saturday's semifinals at 1:00 p.m.
Junior Chanelle Van Nguyen is still alive in the consolation singles draw and will meet Virginia's Julia Elbaba in the semifinals at 11:45 a.m. Van Nguyen is coming off a 6-2, 6-1 win over Tulsa's Samantha Vickers.
