LOS ANGELES – The No. 11 ranked UCLA football team returned to Spaulding Field in full pads on Wednesday to continue preparations for its matchup with Cal in the Pac-12 home opener.
The last time the teams met in the Rose Bowl, UCLA earned a 31-14 win on Oct. 29, 2011. Derrick Coleman rushed for three touchdowns, and Tevin McDonald picked off three Cal passes in the victory. UCLA scored 17 unanswered points in the second quarter to take a 17-7 lead at the break. Cal closed to 17-14, but UCLA turned two McDonald thefts into Coleman scoring runs to pull away.
The two teams will face off on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m., in the Rose Bowl. ESPN2 will air the contest as Mike Patrick will have the call and be joined by Ed Cunningham in the booth and Jeannine Edwards on the sideline.
