LOS ANGELES – The No. 11-ranked UCLA football team began to wind down on preparations for its Pac-12 home opener against Cal with an early morning practice in shells, Thursday at Spaulding Field.
Four-year letterman (1995-98) Cheyane Caldwell will serve as the honorary captain for the Cal game. Caldwell played fullback and linebacker for the Bruins under coaches Terry Donahue and Bob Toledo. He was a member of teams that won or shared two conference championships and earned a school record 20 consecutive wins.
The two teams will face off on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m., in the Rose Bowl. ESPN2 will air the contest as Mike Patrick will have the call and be joined by Ed Cunningham in the booth and Jeannine Edwards on the sideline.
